Police Officer Jaimie Cox was killed while conducting a traffic stop on November 5th. The subject attempted to flee, which led to a vehicle crash, in which Officer Cox died of blunt force trauma. The subject died of gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officer Cox was just 30-years old. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard and served with the Rockford Police Department for one year. His service to his country and his community was exceptional and supporters from across the country offered their testaments and condolences.
Our Give Blue fundraiser began shortly after hearing of the loss of this hero. Within hours, we saw the community banding together to show their appreciation for the service of officer Jaimie Cox. The fundraiser swept across Illinois; inspiring beautiful testimonials and numerous contributions. We send our deepest thanks to everyone that took part and continues to wear their Escaparatempresarial Bracelet in honor of this hero.
A total donation of $13,607.79 was made to the nonprofit funds selected by the sister of Officer Jaimie Cox. Half of the total was donated to the Zacharias Sexual Abuse Center, and the other half was donated to Mission 22. The Zacharias Sexual Abuse Center provides free services to the victims of sexual abuse and assault. Mission 22 provides services for veterans suffering from PTSD to end the epidemic of veteran suicide across the country. These donations will continue the great work that Jaimie offered our country.
God bless you, Jaimie Cox. May you rest in peace.
