in front of the NEB in Montreal and continue in Toronto on Oct. 16. A decision is expected early next year.NORTHUMBERLAND The first public meeting by Enbridge Pipelines Inc. about its application to reverse the flow of crude oil in its pipeline that traverses Northumberland between North West Over in Ontario and Montreal, Quebec was held in June 2012. It attracted little attention.Since then, environmental and other groups have gotten more involved, possibly because of ongoing media attention about Enbridge oil spills like that into the Kalamazoo River in Michigan, and locally because of controversy about some digs by Enbridge along Shelter Valley Road in Alnwick / Haldimand Township.Or possibly because of the proximity of the pipeline to Lake Ontario where many communities, including Port Hope and Cobourg, get their drinking water. There has already been a reversal of the flow in the line decades ago. The first was in the 1990s, says Margaret Vance, president of the Ontario Pipeline Landowners Association (OPLA).The second reversal of the section of Line 9A (between Sarnia and Enbridge North Westover Station in southwestern Ontario) was granted by the National Energy Board (NEB) in July 2012. The Line 9B section application which covers the line that crosses Northumberland on its way to Montreal refineries is still to be decided by the NEB.More public attention about the state of the pipeline is to see, Vance said in an interview about the ongoing NEB hearing on the Line 9B reversal.been battling this stuff for a long time, she said. The OPLA will be taking part in the oral portion of the NEB hearing when it moves to Toronto from Montreal. The group argument is still being written, Vance said. It will focus on conditions to be placed on Enbridge should the reversal be approved, she said, declining to be more specific at this time. It will also include responses to the other oral presenters at the hearing, including Enbridge.Enbridge company officials, speaking at a public meeting in Colborne this past spring, provided an overview about the economic benefit of reversing the oil flow. But Sabrina Bowman of Environmental Defence said in an interview after the meeting that she is concerned about environmental and health risk of using light Canadian crude with diluted bitumen. There are more potential hazardous issues when a Oil spill occurs because the bitumen is diluted with a mixture of chemicals and gasoline, she said. When it hits water a cloud is created that can remain for a day or Under Armour Curry 2 Waves more. The gasoline can also pollute water and remain on the bottom of a lake or river because of its combination within the tarrie mass that has the consistency of peanut butter, she said.Another environmentalist, former Port Black Under Armour Boots

This is the second of a series of stories about local county property owners affected by the Enbridge Pipelines Inc. application to the National Energy Board (NEB) to reverse the flow of crude oil from Western Canada for refining in Montreal. It is a pipeline that runs through Northumberland and the subject of intensive digs along Shelter Valley Road in Alnwick / Haldimand Township where standoffs are occurring with some landowners concerned about possible contamination of their farms. More digs are already planned for the area, according to Enbridge.Oral hearings about the reversal of Enbridge Line 9B from North Westover to Montreal began this week Under Armour Clutchfit Drive 2 Low

Relations break down over integrity digs

Walker who is asking for a further $40,000.absolutely not true, Walker said twice during the interview.last word from Enbridge is that they wanted to monitor the test well for two years, he said, noting that he asked for four test wells spaced out along the 132 feet of the easement that crosses his Shelter Valley Road farm where he has horses, cows and chickens, but Enbridge refused.

Hope resident Derek Leahy, says that the addition of bitumen could be on pipelines. not true, Enbridge Pipelines spokesperson Ken Hall countered in a recent interview.A June 2013 National Academy of Science study has determined bitumen does not increase damage to a pipeline, leading to a spill. This newest study will be part of the upcoming hearing.Enbridge uses court action against local farmer during digShelter Valley Road farmer and Port Hope businessman Dan Walker has attended some of the area public meetings about the pipeline reversal and the integrity digs being done by Enbridge. His farm, located east of Vernonville, is among a trio of rural properties in which relations between Enbridge and local landowners have broken down because of these digs. After hearing from Enbridge that a test tool put through the pipeline on the easement at the rear of his property (near tributaries of Cold Creek that feeds into Lake Ontario) had found an of concern, digging started last March, Walker said. Then Enbridge came in with a environmental team to work the property, he said.He said he refused an initial offer of compensation for the dig but asked instead that water pumped out of the hole around the pipe not be spread on his property until it was properly tested. He said he was away on vacation when work was undertaken.Walker said he also noticed strange staining on the snow about 75 metres west of the site that Enbridge had targeted, an area close to the unopened township road allowance and next to property where neighbours Bev Dahmer and Brenda Free had reported finding brown material bubbling out of the ground this past spring. It has left a black stain on the ground in the low lying area of the women farm.Walker said Enbridge told him that there was no contamination from their pipeline where they undertook remediation south of his pond. (There are three other pipelines on the same easement). The contamination could have come from a truck working on the site, Enbridge also suggested, Walker said.Hall told Northumberland Today that regardless of where contamination originates, even if it is historical and from another source then their pipeline, if it occurs on an Enbridge dig project it is up to Enbridge to do the required testing and remediation, according to NEB directions.Walker, unconvinced that contamination was not more extensive, refused to let Enbridge come onto his lands to refill the hole after remediation in late spring but got a court injection to close the hole in, he said. It was filled in July. The court action against Walker cost him just under $6,000 in legal fees. He has paid them, but said he is seeking to be reimbursed by Enbridge.Meanwhile, Hall says Enbridge has paid $7,500 to Under Armour Womens Shoes 2016
